1. Is this calculator free or is
there a cost?
Most of the single-ended transmission line calculations are free. The
differential calculations require a license fee.
2. How much is a license?
$375 USD (a fraction of the cost of other alternatives.)
3. How is the license administered?
Through a hardware lock (dongle). The dongle attaches to a USB port.
4. Will the dongle work across a network?
No
5. Can I use the dongle on multiple computers?
Yes (But not at the same time.)
6. What are the system requirements?
Win 98/ME/2000/XP. The freeware version will run on NT, but you probably can't
get NT to recognize the USB dongle.
7. What is in the resource files?
Lots of numbers. Beyond that, that information we consider to be proprietary.
8. Why does it take the program so long to load?
On some slower systems, there may be a noticeable delay while the program loads.
It is initializing a large amount of data. On the other hand, once initialized,
it is faster (we think) than any other program. Lightning fast!
9. How accurate is the calculator?
Much more accurate than our earlier one. But accuracy is hard (for any
calculator manufacturer) to determine because it is hard to get real results to
compare against. We have compared the calculator to other alternatives and the
results compare very well. We believe the calculator is much more accurate than
current fabrication technologies can manufacture to!
10. Will UltraCAD continue to support the earlier
calculator (ultraclc)?
We will probably phase that calculator out as this calculator gains acceptance.
11. Why don't you take credit cards?
The calculators are a small part of our business, and the rest of our business
does not require credit card acceptance. And we have used Paypal now for several
years with no problems. Paypal is a great alternative for smaller companies like
ours, especially for international sales.
12. Why don't you accept purchase orders?
There is a cost to your company and to ours for processing all that paperwork.
It should be much easier for you to pay for the calculator individually and then
get reimbursed from your company. If it is not, then we don't want to work with
your accounting department either! Purchase orders are very difficult to
administer internationally.
13. Will you accept purchase orders for volume
licenses?
Yes, if they are from stable, domestic companies. Call for information.
14. Would you be open to international representation
by an international distributor?
Yes. Contact us with a proposal.
15. Where can I find complete specifications?
In the Operator's Manual. (This
is a large pdf file which opens in a new window. You might want to right-click
and download it to your computer.)
16. Where do the files go?
Beginning with Version 2.0, all files are installed to the program directory.
The user can specify the program directory during the install process. This is a
change from prior versions. Files are no longer placed in the c:\ (root)
directory.
